英文释义 Definition of Vowel：
A letter of the alphabet (a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y) that represents a speech sound created by the relatively free passage of breath through the larynx and oral cavity. Letters that are not vowels are consonants.
The letter 'y' is a bit different, because sometimes it acts as a consonant and sometimes it acts as a vowel.

在孩子掌握元音字母之后，还应该让孩子学会元音音素。元音还指“发音” ，"There is ans in short " ,中文意思为“在short这个单词中有一个字母s ”，这里用了an，而an是用于元音前的，因为s是辅音字母，但它的发音为/es/,是以元音开头的，所以元音除了指字母，在实际运用中更多地是指元音音素。
一个字母可以对应多个音素，bat, late ,这两个单词中字母A对应了/æ/ /eɪ/这两个音素，字母E在egg,she,eleven这三个单词中对应了4个不同的音素/e/ /i:/ /i/ /ə/。在英语中共有20个元音音素，7个短元音、5个长元音和8个双元音。
元音分类：
短元音short vowels: mop,luck
长元音long vowels: pain, maid, tea
R控制的元音 r-controlled vowels: jar, fur, shark
双元音 vowel diphthongs: coin, soil
二合元音字母 vowel digraphs: thief, movie
非重读音节的元音 schwa: ribbon, teacher

二 辅音 Consonants

辅音字母21个（除元音字母的其他所有）,是指发音时气流通路有阻碍的音。B b, C c, D d，F f, G g, H h, J j, K k, L l, M m, N n , P p , Q q , R r, S s, T t, V v, W w, X x , Y y , Z z
英语辅音又可以根据不同的发音方法分类，即气流冲破阻碍时所使用的不同方法，比如有的音气流冲破阻碍时听起来急促爆破，如p, b, d, t, 有的音则听起来摩擦感强,如 f, v, s, z。

辅音字母有21个，辅音音素有24（或者25个），大多数辅音字母与音素是一一对应的，少数辅音字母对应多个音素，比如字母C , 在car, case中发音为/k/， 而在rice， nice， pencil中发音为/s/ 。

三 大写和小写Uppercase and Lowercase
每个字母都有两种形式：大写和小写,它们的意义是一样的，在口语中基本不需要做区分，但在书面英语中大小写的的规范非常重要，比如人名、地名、句首要大写，rose，同样是这四个字母Rose 表示人名，rose表示玫瑰花，字母R大写与小写意义不同。
大写字母称为：capital 、big、uppercase，A可以称为“capital A”、“big A ” 或“uppercase A ” 。
小写字母称为：small、little、 lowercase，a可以称为“small a ” “ little a ”或 “lowercase a”。
四 字母与音素意识游戏Activities
1. Vowel sounds practice game with cups
准备材料：纸杯5个、记号笔（白板笔）、棋子或磁贴或类似的东西
在杯子上写a,e,i,o,u ,刚开始玩建议只用3个杯子，让A闭上眼睛，B将一枚棋子藏在其中一个杯子下，然后A睁开眼睛猜在哪个杯子里，并说出相应的字母。
2. Consonant and vowel toss and sort
准备材料：三个框子，26个乒乒球（每个球分别写一个字母）
如下图将乒乓球按元音和辅音分别投到对应的框子里，锻炼“投球”和学习字母。
3. Consonant and vowel sort
准备材料：纸、笔、胶
画两个圆形轨道，按元音和辅音分别写出对应的字母，如果孩子不会写，可以家长写好，并裁剪成独立的字母，让孩子贴上去。
4. Alphabet sorting game
这套素材可用来玩分类和记忆游戏。 分类可以按字母分、按元音与辅音分，每个字母对应6张图卡。
